Since launching in 1991, Nervous Records has been a driving force in both underground House and Hip-Hop, building a reputation thanks to its unmistakable cartoon logo, a fearless approach to championing new artists and a knack for identifying a number one hit from a mile away. From early House tracks like Byron Stingily’s “Get Up (Everybody)” to genre bending classics like Nuyorican Soul’s “The Nervous Track” to techno anthems like Josh Wink’s “Don’t Laugh” to helping put Brooklyn Hip-Hop back on the map with Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun, Nervous has never stayed in one lane for long. Even in the modern era, Nervous is still releasing gems. In the recent past the label has released worldwide anthems like Mochakk’s “Da Fonk” feat Joni, Mau P’s “The Less I Know The Better,” and Loofy’s “Last Night” (Anyma & Layton Giordani Remix). The 90’s represented a golden era of independent record labels in New York, and while the landscape has changed, Nervous Records has against all odds continued to stand as a beacon of light for quality and innovative DJ driven music the world over.
